Über or ueber comes from the German language. It is a cognate of both Latin super and Greek ὑπέρ (hyper), as well as English over.
Nifty; a general term for anything that is good, useful or beneficial.
Uber Nifty is a location for sharing ideas, tips, tricks and code for, mostly, industrial control and data collection. The site covers topics such as OS (Windows and Linux), PLCs, HMIs, various ethernet enabled devices as well as anything else that takes my fancy.
Many of the articles here describe methods of collecting data over an intranet, LAN or WAN from various industrial devices. The intent is usually to gather information without proprietary hardware and software and, ideally, for free.
Most of the code has been assembled from hundreds of sites across the web. I'm happy to have this opportunity to give something back.
This site is maintained by Donncha Butler, an electrical engineer living in Ireland, with interests in industrial control and automation, web development, PLCs, HMIs, electronics and sharing information.
